Common Interface Plus (CI+) is an enhanced security standard that enables TVs and set-top boxes to access encrypted pay-TV services using removable Conditional Access Modules (CAMs). It delivers stronger content protection and improved interoperability compared to the original CI standard, giving broadcasters greater confidence when offering premium channels.
DTVKit’s CI+ stack supports both CI+ 2.0 USB CAMs and legacy CI+ 1.4 PCMCIA CAMs, ensuring broad compatibility across new and existing devices. Platforms that implement Enhanced Content Protection can securely access premium UHD content, meeting the latest operator and studio requirements.
Highly portable and easy to integrate, the stack works seamlessly with major DVB solutions, including DTVKit’s DVBCore and supports CI+ browser engines such as MHEG and HbbTV, enabling rich CAM-based operator applications.

The CI Plus framework is built on top of DTVKit’s core DVB components, ensuring seamless integration and broad platform compatibility including RTOS, Linux, Android, and RDK based platforms. Its flexible architecture supports deployment on systems both with and without a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE). Well-defined interfaces enable smooth integration with either DTVKit or third-party DVB stacks, as well as with MHEG and HbbTV engines to provide full CI+ Browser support.

How quickly can I get started once I join?
Once your membership is confirmed and onboarding is complete, you’ll receive immediate access to the full DTVKit source code repository and documentation. Members are usually up and running within a few days.
How is the software licensed?
Membership gives you unlimited, royalty-free access to the entire codebase. Use it, modify it, ship it – without per-unit fees or runtime charges. This model keeps costs predictable and empowers you to innovate freely, without commercial restrictions holding you back.

What platforms does DTVKit support?
DTVKit is designed to be flexible. It already supports Android TV, RDK, and hybrid white-label platforms, and can be ported to Linux or other embedded systems.

Do I need to be a DVB or ATSC member to use DTVKit?
No. DTVKit is fully independent.
We align with DVB and ATSC standards to ensure compliance and interoperability, but you don’t need to join those organisations to use our software. Membership with DTVKit alone gives you everything you need to build compliant broadcast products.
